Benjamin Wu, M.D.
As an ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained Glaucoma
Specialist, Dr. Wu’s primary mission is to help those patients
with glaucoma prevent further vision loss. He specializes in both
surgical and non-surgical treatment of glaucoma and other eye diseases.
Dr. Wu also provides state-of-the-art diagnostic testing and advanced
surgical techniques that include laser surgery to help protect patients
from glaucoma.
Education and Training
Dr. Wu earned his Medical degree in 1983 and later
a Master’s degree in Ophthalmology from Tongji Medical University
in 1989. He served an internship and held the position of
Chief Resident at the Department of Ophthalmology at The Fifth Hospital
and Union Hospital of Wuhan in China. He came to the United States
in 1992, where his education continued as a Post-Doctoral research
Fellow at the Department of Ophthalmology of Columbia University
in New York. He served a surgical residency at Mount Sinai
School of Medicine in New York City and an internal medicine residency
at Helene Fuld Medical Center in New Jersey. Dr. Wu again held the
position of Chief Resident while serving an Ophthalmology Residency
at the Interfaith Medical Center in New York. He then furthered
his training to become a Glaucoma Specialist by serving a Glaucoma
Fellowship at Indiana University in Indianapolis.
Dr. Wu has done extensive research in the field of
Ophthalmology, and has presented information for several professional
medical meetings. In addition, he has authored articles that were
published in well-known ophthalmic journals.
Dr. Wu is a member of the Association for Research
in Vision and Ophthalmology, the American Academy of Ophthalmology,
and
the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.
