Lynnette M. Watkins, M.D., M.B.A., F.A.C.S.

Not only is Dr. Lynnette Watkins a board-certified ophthalmologist, but she is a specialist in oculoplastics and cosmetic surgery. In this role, she is available for consultation regarding all aspects of plastic, reconstructive and cosmetic surgery of the eyelids, tear ducts and orbit, including ptosis, entropion, orbital fractures and trauma. She also repairs tear ducts and removes tumors and lesions from the lid margin.

Education, Training, and Experience

Dr. Watkins has outstanding education and experience, from her college degrees at the University of Missouri-Kansas City to the courses she has taught at Harvard Medical School’s Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. Dr. Watkins graduated with distinction from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and her Doctor of Medicine degree. Her education continued as an intern at Truman Medical Center in Kansas City, and as a Resident in Ophthalmology at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. She also completed two fellowships in Oculoplastic Surgery, from the University of Iowa, and in Los Angeles, California.

She is a board-certified ophthalmologist with extensive education and knowledge, and has instructed courses in ophthalmology at Harvard’s Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. She has authored numerous articles which have been published in well-known ophthalmic journals, and earned many awards and honors in her education. In addition, she was selected as one of “America’s Top Ophthalmologists” by the Consumer’s Research Council of America, and was recently awarded the Dean’s Community Service Award by Harvard Medical School for her community work in domestic violence.

Dr. Watkins is a member of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology, the National Medical Association, the Massachusetts Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and the American Society of Ocular Trauma.
