Specialized Eye Care: Ask the Expert of Kokomo Eye Center

Lynnette Watkins, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Oculoplastics and Cosmetic Surgery Specialist
Kokomo Eye Center

As Kokomo's premier specialized eye care center, the experts of the Kokomo Eye Center treat the medical and surgical needs of those from all stages of life. To maintain good eye health and optimal vision, it is important to see an eye health care provider, either your optometrist or an ophthalmologist at least once per year. Each month, we focus on one of our physicians' specialty and some common questions and answers. Selected as one of "America's Top Ophthalmologists" by the Consumer's Research Council of America, Dr. Lynnette Watkins is a board-certified and fellowship-trained ophthalmologist, specializing in oculoplastics and cosmetic surgery, which involve procedures to correct problems around the eye area including drooping of upper and lower eye lids, tearing disorders, eye socket or orbital surgery and trauma surgery.

The Kokomo Eye Center is proud to offer a carefully selected array of surgical and non-surgical cosmetic solutions specialized in the eye and facial regions. Our non-surgical cosmetic solutions include:

Botox® Cosmetic - Often injected to the area above and between the eyebrows, Botox® inhibits muscle activity and therefore relaxes the muscles responsible for frown lines. These frown lines, which can include crow's feet and other wrinkles, are caused by repeated facial expressions. Although each person responds differently, results can last between three and six months.

Injectable Fillers - As the aging process occurs, wrinkles form as natural collagen and hyaluronic acid diminish. Cosmetic fillers are injectable substances used to fill in wrinkles on the face. Collagen provides structural support to skin, muscle, tendons, and bone and is the most abundant natural protein in the body, while hyaluronic acid provides skin volume. The Kokomo Eye Center offers Restylane® and CosmoDerm II® as our selection of the safest and most effective fillers available. The filler of choice is determined by a variety of factors including the location and severity of the area treated.

Chemical Peels - TCA (trichloracetic acid) peels can be used to restore sun-damaged, wrinkled, blemished, acne scarred or blotchy skin to a smoother, more even toned skin by exfoliating and smoothing aging or damaged skin.

In addition to non-surgical cosmetic solutions, Dr. Watkins offers surgical procedures to rejuvenate the appearance of the eye and facial regions including upper and lower eyelid surgeries (blepharoplasty), direct, transblepharoplasty and endoscopic brow lifts, SurgiWire Release procedures, and mid face lifts.

Regardless of how mainstream cosmetic procedures become, we believe their outcomes are only as safe and effective as the expertise of the provider. Specializing in a particular area of the body and offering procedures directly related to it, give you the confidence of having a surgeon with the experience and skill far greater because of the number of surgical procedures performed routinely. We are the "Eye Specialists", which is why we're confident you'll agree the ideal environment for cosmetic eyelid and facial procedures is in your complete specialized eye care facility, The Eye Center Group.

Our team of experts provides the utmost in specialized medical and surgical eye care including cataract, glaucoma, laser refractive surgery, oculoplastics and cosmetic surgery, treatment of retinal and vitreous diseases and medical optometry.
