Eye Center Group, Fort Wayne Ophthalmology Merge to Form Expanded Fort Wayne Eye Center
(Fort Wayne, IN) October 10, 2007 - Dr. J. Rex Parent of Fort Wayne Ophthalmology and The Eye Center Group recently announced the successful merger of their eye care practices to form Fort Wayne Eye Center, providing more access to highly trained ophthalmic specialists to the Fort Wayne area.
The Eye Center Group is the largest private multi-specialty ophthalmic practice in Indiana, and shares the same values that have made Dr. Parent’s practice successful. “This expansion, together with The Eye Center Group and our newest physician, Dr. Michael Hodkin, will not only allow us to offer patients better access to our services, but continue to uphold our standard of treating every patient with highest quality of care as we would desire for our families and ourselves,” Dr. Parent commented.
Michael J. Hodkin, M.D., joins Drs. J. Rex Parent, Paul Gill, and Gregory Zink as the newest physician of The Fort Wayne Eye Center. Dr. Hodkin is a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained cornea specialist that has been in practice for nearly 15 years at The Eye Center Group in Muncie. Dr. Hodkin is now Fort Wayne’s first resident corneal surgeon, providing better access to this subspecialty. Dr. Hodkin successfully employs the latest techniques and technologies including Trimox no-drop cataract surgery and implantation of multifocal lenses for those wearing bifocals or reading glasses. As a cornea specialist, Dr. Hodkin is one of the few surgeons in Indiana to perform the new cornea transplant procedure, DSEK. Dr. Hodkin also performs refractive surgery including LASIK, Advanced Surface Ablation, and refractive lens exchange.
J. Rex Parent, M.D., is a board-certified ophthalmologist and founding physician of Fort Wayne Ophthalmology. Dr. Parent is a nationally recognized specialist, and has been selected by his peers as one of the “Top Doctors in America” and one of “America’s Top Ophthalmologists” by the Consumer’s Research Council of America. Dr. Parent specializes in cataract and refractive surgery.
