Selected as one of “America’s Top Ophthalmologists”
by the Consumer’s Research Council of America, Dr. Lynnette M. Watkins
is a board-certified and fellowship-trained
ophthalmologist, specializing in oculoplastics and cosmetic
surgery. In addition to cosmetic surgery, Dr. Watkins provides
oculoplastics services, which involve procedures to correct
problems around the eye area including drooping of upper
and lower eye lids, tearing disorders, eye socket or orbital
surgery and trauma surgery.
Dr. Watkins’ elite professional accomplishments include
experiences as both Instructor of Ophthalmology and Director
of Emergency Ophthalmology Service at the prestigious Harvard
Medical School. During her tenure at Harvard’s Massachusetts
Eye and Ear Infirmary, she created a domestic violence task
force, and has since been awarded the Dean’s Community
Service Award by Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Watkins graduated with distinction from the University
of Missouri-Kansas City, where she earned her Bachelor of
Arts degree in Biology and her Doctor of Medicine degree.
Her education continued as an intern at Truman Medical Center
in Kansas City, and as a Resident in Ophthalmology at Harvard
Medical School’s Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary.
She also has completed two fellowships, one in Oculoplastics
from the University of Iowa and another in Oculoplastic
and Cosmetic Surgery in Los Angeles, California.
Dr. Watkins’ dedication to the medical field extends
well past the clinic. An accomplished educator, Dr. Watkins
has authored numerous articles that have been published
in industry-leading publications and instructional materials.
Dr. Watkins also serves as the Chairman of the Board of
Directors for the Eye Center Group.
Dr. Watkins memberships include the Indiana Academy of
Ophthalmology, the American College of Surgeons, the American
Academy of Ophthalmology, the American College of Healthcare
Executives and the American College of Physician Executives.
